Meet Tony
A shared passion for serving struggling kids and a desire to give back to his community brought Tony Morman onto the AMA board of directors in 2015. For about a year and a half now, he's been the board president!
As part of the team who made the quick, tough (and wise) decision to close the S. Main Street Studio in March, Tony's first thought was of the impact of AMA closing.
"There is SUCH a community need for what we provide. The only thing I was focused on was 'what do we need to do in order to make sure AMA exists in 6 months? What do we need to do to make sure it exists in 1 year...in 5 years?' When you ask that question in such a big, broad term, it helps make really tough decisions."
DO YOU SEE A LONGTERM FUTURE FOR AMA?
"AMA is going to be around for a long, long time!"
Tony's vision of the organization is to serve more community members in a more meaningful way. "From a fundamental standpoint, we are going to make sure that we're doing and scaling this in a responsible and smart way, and I know we have the right people to do that!"

"BIG PICTURE, we want to make sure we are there and available for the people who need us, and I am overwhelmingly more optimistic as the months go on."
Tony says he feels a great deal of pride in Awakening Minds Art, the hurdles we've overcome, and the contributions he has made. The reasons why he joined the organization have not changed, they've "just deepened. [They've] cemented why I joined, why I continue to serve, and why I love AMA so much. It's the people and the people we get to serve."
Awakening Minds Art is truly grateful for the hard work and dedication of Tony! We are moving toward a better future, and Tony is helping to make that happen!
