Community Murals
Awakening Minds Art is teaming up with the City of Findlay, local artists, and local businesses to design and paint approximately 15 interactive murals throughout Findlay this summer!
The Community Mural Project will include an application process for local artists to submit mural ideas to Awakening Minds Art. Local building owners will then help to select a mural best suited for their location. Selected artists will receive a $500 stipend for their time and supplies. They must attend an online educational seminar on the necessary materials and process for achieving sustainable, high-quality murals.
Each “interactive” mural is meant to bring people up to the building to pose with the artwork. Some cities, like Nashville, have had success painting butterfly wing murals for people to stand in front of to be photographed. Like this winged example, these murals may be quite small. Several of the chosen designs will focus on inclusivity, diversity, and accessibility for guests with disabilities. Local organizations are welcome to submit mission-focused design ideas!
