Meet Brittany
Brittany Daniels is our newest AMA board member! Although she was welcomed onto the board this year, Brittany has a long history with our organization! In 2015, Brittany was hired as an art education instructor, but stayed because she fell in love with our special needs programming and all the "feel good moments" she experienced.
Since 2015, Brittany has held numerous titles. She filled many organizational roles that were needed at the time, and ultimately, those roles gave her the confidence and experience to excel as the Community Relations & Finance Director from 2018-2020.
When the pandemic hit in March, Brittany, like most of us, felt denial and heartache. She explains her painful reality after the studio shut down: "I thought that when I eventually left [AMA], that I could say 'Look what I did! I built this!' But now that isn't the case. Now I'm moving on, but this place still needs my help...But I just can't stay."
Other dreams have taken Brittany away from the instructor duties of Awakening Minds Art, but she remains active in pursuing the goals of the organization. "Over the years, I've seen this programming changing people's lives! I care about the programming, so it was important for me to stay."
WHAT DOES AMA'S FUTURE LOOK LIKE?
"We need to focus on the programs that make us special, especially our partnerships in the community, our special needs programs, and giving back to the many people who don't have access to art."
WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT AWAKENING MINDS ART??
"Students can feel it, but even care providers and family members are like, 'WHOA--this is actually more than just art!' And it makes such a positive impact on people's lives.
"It's so special to see the bigger picture of our programming. Art is so important; there's a need for it, and filling the gaps of art in our community is what makes our programming so powerful."

Awakening Minds Art is so thankful for Brittany, the many years she served as a staff member, and for her continued belief in our mission. Her knowledge and passion will bring AMA into a very bright future!
